Dear Jefferson Families,
The last month of school is upon us! We have a lot of fun events happening in the month of May at Jefferson. Please keep an eye out for emails and the weekly parent newsletter for details.
Additionally, as we continue to have colder temperatures for morning recess, please send your student to school with a sweatshirt or light jacket.
Recess Expectations:
- Less than 50 degrees: Students must wear a jacket and have it zipped up.
- 50-59 degrees: Students may decide about a jacket but they must have a long sleeve shirt on.
- 60 degrees and above: No jacket needed and short sleeves allowed.
Thank you for helping to keep all of our students dressed appropriately while they enjoy their recesses.
Mrs. Ascher

A Letter from the Health Office-End of the Year 2023/2024
Susan Martin LPN/Health Assistant and Liz Lynch, BSN, RN, NCSN
From the Health Office All medications are to be picked up by the parent/guardian on the last day of school. Health Assistant, Susan Martin, LPN, will be reaching out regarding parental consent to send home over the counter medications (ie. cough drops) home with your student(s). OASD Policy does not allow health staff to keep medications for the next school year. If there is NO response regarding the medication and they are not picked up/sent home by the end of the day on the last day of school, May 31st, the medication will be properly disposed of.
If your child has a current health plan or emergency plan on file with the school, you will receive a copy during the summer to update for the upcoming school year.
If your child has a change in their health or has a healthcare need at school, please email our school district nurse, Liz Lynch, BSN, RN, NCSN, during the summer and she will contact you at the beginning of the school year to discuss. elizabeth.lynch@oshkosh.k12.wi.us
If your child will need to take medication at school, please work with your doctor to have this form completed and signed before the start of the school year. As a reminder, the directions on the medication bottle must match the written order on the medication request form.
If you have a child with a severe allergy, asthma, or seizures the following forms will need to be completed for our school nurse. Inhalers, Epi-Pens, Allergy medications, etc., must be in their original containers. Expiration dates will be monitored. Here is a link to the paperwork for school.
Or, all forms can be found under the Health Office News and click on the link Medication Treatment Forms to choose the form that is needed for your child on the Jefferson Webpage.

Jefferson Families,
Please see here for the Tier I Annual Summary. It is a school-wide framework for supporting students behaviorally, socially, emotionally, and academically across all settings.
Children under age seven lack mature inner speech. Adults use inner speech to rehearse choices and outcomes before we act. Instead of inner speech, children encode information in pictures. So, we can use pictures to guide children’s behavior and avoid power struggles. Use your body as a picture by modeling what you want, use your words to help paint pictures of what you want, and put up actual pictures that show what to do. Instead of, “Walk in the house,” say, “Walk carefully with each foot going like this through the house.” Not only do you get better compliance (fewer power struggles), you also build language and literacy.
Loading Zone
Please be aware of street signs for the loading zone only area on Minnesota street. This is a designated area for loading/drop off only. We ask that you do not park and leave, or sit in your vehicle at the beginning and end of the day in this specific area.
Parent parking is available on the surrounding streets of Jefferson and across the street on Minnesota Street. Please see this parking map for reference.
