A Message from Ms. Buchanan

Dear Patriot Families,
I hope that everyone is finding health and happiness in the new year and that the holidays were a time for reconnecting with your family. I know a favorite tradition of mine during the season is to gather with all my siblings and play games together while catching up!

It seems as though this year is flying by as we are almost entering second semester of school. There are many opportunities for families to participate in fun activities at Jefferson starting with our PTO movie night on Friday, January 24.  We have so much to accomplish in the upcoming months and look forward to having the opportunity to meet with all of you during our parent teacher conferences coming up on January 30 and February 4.

Thank you for all you do to work together with our Jefferson staff for the success of your child/children.

With Patriot Pride,
Rhonda Buchanan
Jefferson Elementary Principal

Safe Routes to School

Jefferson Elementary School is looking to hire a Walking School Bus Coordinator! A Walking School Bus (WSB) is a safe and fun way for children to get physical activity as they travel to school with adult supervision. The “bus” will meet at the old Smith School location and walk along a set route to school with one or more adults leading it. The coordinator would be responsible for the following duties: walking the students to school five days a week, or recruiting  parent volunteers to walk every day, advertising the program, registering students, coordinating day to day activities, communicating with parents, completing the necessary paperwork. This is a paid position! If the bus runs 5-14 times a semester you will receive $250 a semester, and if you walk 15-20 times you will receive $500 a semester. If you are interested in the position please contact our Safe Routes to School Coordinator Ashley at atracy@ecwrpc.org to learn more information.

Important Reminders

As the weather turns Colder and the winter wind whips briskly, we wanted to remind families to please send their children to school with the appropriate cold weather clothing.  WARM winter adidas_Men's_WINTER STORY_OT-TECH GORE-TEX HOODED JACKET_E… | Flickr, Gloves - Free illustrations on Pixabay& Free vector graphic: Cap, Cloth, Clothing, Education - Free Image ...  are needed now that temperatures are falling.  Unfortunately, the school does not have enough of these items to hand them out to students who come without the necessary clothing.
