Happy School Year and Welcome back to creating! My name is Miss Stumpf and I am Jefferson Elementry’s Art teacher. New this school year, we will be utilizing Artsonia, which is a portfolio based art program that lets parents, guardians, and extended families be able to interact with the student’s artwork. It is similar to Art to Remember, but is available year round. A great tool to use and have throughout a student’s art career. I will be sending home detailed information within 2 weeks to start our art journey! Be on the lookout and happy creating!

 

Hello Jefferson students and families and welcome to a new year. To those of you who are returning, welcome back! To those of you who are new to Jefferson this year, welcome! We are so excited to have you here! My name is Ms. Schneider and I am the music teacher here at Jefferson. This will be my third year at Jefferson and I can’t wait for all the fun things we have planned for the year!

New this year (mark your calendars): This year, we will be having 2 different concerts throughout the year. Our first concert will be at 6pm on Thursday, December 2nd in the Alberta Kimball Auditorium in Oshkosh West High School. At this concert ONLY kindergarteners, 1st, and 2nd graders will be performing. 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be performing at our Jefferson Spring Concert at 6pm on Tuesday March 1st in the Alberta Kimball Auditorium in Oshkosh West High School.

Mrs. Kese is looking for 4th or 5th grade students who are interested in competing in the battle of the books.  Battle of the books involves students reading a total of 20 books as a team.  Teams are 2-4 members so if a team of four divided the books equally each member would read five books.  A team of two would read ten books each.  Teams will be formed in October.  Battle questions will ask you about the plot, characters, and settings of the books.  All questions will be answered with the title and author of a book.

You will choose your answer from a drop down list of the 20 titles or authors.  If you are interested let Mrs. Kese in the library know and start reading books off of this list!

Dreambox Information for Families 2021

Many family online resources are available to you as you learn more about your child’s math curriculum, Bridges in Mathematics. Below are the steps to navigating Math Learning Center’s online resource along with information on an additional supplemental resource Dreambox. 

1.  Go to www.mathlearningcenter.org  Here you will find seven tabs below the title. The For Families tab provides unit overviews for each grade level as well as additional parent blogs and article resources.

2. Next, select the grade level you would like to learn more about. Here you will be able to view Unit Overview, FAQ’s and ways parents can help with math.

   

 

3. In the Home Learning tab you will find additional  online math games activities by grade level to support your child in building  math skills at home.

4. I would like to highlight the Math Learning Center FREE APPS that are found under the Apps  tab.  These are wonderful tools for students to help model and work through math problems. These are very helpful for students in explaining their math thinking and reasoning. Many of the apps are digital models of the hands on tools that the students utilize in the classroom. Be sure to check them out! They are AMAZING!

All K-2 students and some 3-5 students (3-5 students classroom teachers will reach out to you if this applies to your child) have a school purchased Dreambox account and should login through Classlink.
